My mother's 3-year-old garage door opener stopped functioning. My mother is 75 years old, blind and disabled, so she asked me to contact the company that installed the door - Precision Garage Door Services. They came out same day, which was great, but it all went downhill from there. After inspecting the door, the technician concluded that one of the safety sensors wasn't working and needed replacement. Unfortunately, it was no longer under warranty. The tech gave me a quote of $366.53 to replace the defective sensor. I questioned the price because that seemed extremely high, but he assured me that garage door sensors are very expensive. We had to get the door fixed because the door to the garage is the only one she can get in and out of the house, so we had the work done. Later that evening, I remained skeptical of how expensive these sensors were, so I Googled the part number included on the invoice. I found a slew of them online under $20 with OEM costing $33.86! That's over a 1000% markup!!! On an elderly disabled woman, no less. I immediately called the company and spoke with a nice lady who said that she would have management return my call with 24 hours. It is now three days later and no call. Buyer beware.

Their service technician was great but the cost seemed pricey. If I wasn't trapped in my garage I would have shopped around more. I may have gotten a better price, maybe not.

PRECISION RESPONDED QUICKLY AND PROVIDED THREE ESTIMATES AS TO THE COST OF REPAIRING A GARAGE DOOR OPENER. UNFORTUNATELY, ALL OF THE ESTIMATES WERE VERY HIGH, IN MY OPINION. THEY RANGED FROM APPROXIMATELY $1,050 TO OVER $2,000, DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH I WANTED TO REPLACE. BECAUSE OF THE HIGH ESTIMATES I CONTACTED A SECOND GARAGE DOOR COMPANY. THEY REPAIRED THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER TO PERFECT WORKING ORDER FOR $115.00.

I selected PDS as they promised same day service. The person who came out was not a "fixer"...he was the "estimator"! Not happy with that... but the "estimator" promised someone would arrive that day to make the agreed upon repairs. After we signed the contract...OOPs there was a family emergency and the "fixer" could not come out that day. After a couple phone calls by the "estimator" it was agreed a "fixer" would arrive at 8:00 AM the next day. OOPs .. the "fixer" called something after 9:15 and said he was on his way from Orlando and would arrive in 35-40 minutes.. The "fixer" replaced the necessary parts and the garage door now works fine..... Far to much drama, we simply wanted a garage door that worked.
